Dedicated to the Guru-Shishya Parampara, the book, ‘A Brief History of Science in India’ provides an overview through centuries, dealing with how our ancient Rishis knew, dealt with, and propounded scientific theories, which are not only applicable now, but also many in the world, especially, the West seem to have benefited from it, though they may not acknowledge it. The book covers a vast range of topics like: Science in Ancient India and the Vedic Legacy; Science in Medieval and Modern India; Respect accorded to women scholars during the Vedic Period and so on. Apart from the Vedic period, the book also talks about what happened to the same scientific tradition in the medieval period. Further, the book focuses on the indigenous education system, which ensured the transfer of knowledge down the generations, without a break in the chain.
