An open and informative panel discussion on the new legal era for India. The new rules released in Spring 2023 by the Bar Council of India enable international lawyers and arbitration practitioners to advise in the country. India, a rapidly changing country is aiming for a future where on a reciprocal basis foreign lawyers and law firms will be able to practice in transactional and corporate work such as joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property matters and much more. A highly experienced and expert UK based legal discussion panel will explore the meaning and the potential impact of these changes.
The discussion covers key points such as registration, fees, barriers, talent and client movement, foreign direct investment, and India as a centre for international commercial arbitration. The expert legal speakers from the UK will share their own international legal experiences from similar openings in other markets as well as direct history and relations with and in India. The aim of the discussion is to shine a light on the lessons learned so far and clarify the key questions which need to be answered for a competitive and workable roadmap ahead. The session will end with a Q&A.
