Shampa Dewan is an experienced vocalist with a strong background in musical performance, recording, and production. She began her music training in childhood with Tagore songs, influenced by the works of Rabindranath Tagore, the renowned poet, playwright, philosopher, and composer of the Bengal Renaissance. Her first music guru was the prominent artist Shree Bharat Chandra Da. During her college years, Shampa developed an interest in Nazrul Geeti (the songs written and composed by Kazi Nazrul Islam) and pursued further training under the guidance of Ustad Yakub Ali Khan.
In addition to her classical music training, Shampa has performed playback singing for various films and telefilms. Currently, she is learning from Mukhtar Mir, a disciple of the legendary Ustad Mehdi Hassan.
Shampa holds an MBBS degree and is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in England.
She is accompanied by talented musicians including Amar Sarl on tabla, Dhiren Raichura on guitar, and Amar Khokhar on harmonium/keys.
