Baluji Shrivastav, OBE will be performing a special concert of mesmerizing Indian classical music accompanied by tablas.
Baluji is an Indian multi-instrumentalist who surmounted blindness at 8 months to become one of the world’s leading sitar players. He has performed and recorded with some of the greatest tabla accompanists including Anindo Chatterji and Ustad Fayaz Khan. His work with a wide variety of artists including Stevie Wonder, Massive Attack, Noel Gallagher, Coldplay and Shakira, has earned him the title ‘sitarist to the stars’ (Evening Standard). His latest stunning multi-media composition - ‘Antardrishti-Inner Vision’, funded by an international commission from Unlimited and featuring his Inner Vision Orchestra of blind musicians, dancers and Addictive TV was performed to great reception at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre in Sept 2018, followed by sell out shows in Delhi and the Mumbai Opera House in collaboration with the British Council.
For services to music and as founder of Inner Vision Orchestra, Baluji was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s 90th Birthday Honour’s List. In 2017 he was made Non-Resident Indian of the year for Art and Culture and this February Baluji received the prestigious Hind Rattan Award from the Indian Government.
