Anushree started learning the Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam at the age of eight from Smt. Sudha Jagannath, at the Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra in New Delhi. Under the proficient and loving guidance of her guru and blessings of Lord Bhavanishankar, Anushree has developed a strong grasp of the complexities and elements within the various compositions in a Bharatanatyam ‘Margam’ or repertoire.
She performed her Arangetram in 2005, and since then has given many solo and group recitals in India. Having moved to the UK in 2014, she has also performed on formal and informal occasions in Oxford, Nottingham, Bristol, and London. With two Masters Degrees; in Nutrition and Global health, from the Universities of Delhi and Oxford respectively, Anushree presently works for an international development charity in London, on policy advocacy to reduce global malnutrition.
Anushree will be performing select pieces from a traditional Margam, in the hope of taking her audience along a rhythmic and Rasa-evoking journey of Nritta and Abhinaya, as she immerses herself in her love for this dance form.
