Daniella is a Mohiniyattam Practitioner based in London, UK. She is a student of Guru Nirmala Paniker (Natanakaisiki - the Mohiniyattam Gurukulam of Natanakairali, Kerala), having had her formative training with Smt. Shalini Shivashankar (Upahaar School of Dance, UK). She has also trained in Bharatanatyam, initially under Smt. Vinothini Barathan and then with Smt. Shalini Shivashankar.
She completed her Mohiniyattam and Bharatanatyam Arangetram in 2019 and was included in Akademi’s list of 40 under 40 South Asian dance artists to look out for in the UK. In 2025, she completed her Mohiniyattam Rangaparichaya, under the guidance of Guru Nirmala Paniker. Daniella will be presenting a Desi Mohiniyattam Margam. Desi Mohiniyattam refers to the indigenous components of the art form, which were revived by Guru Nirmala Paniker. The two central pieces of the evening are Karukare Karmukil, the popular “rain song” by Kavalam Narayana Panicker and Kurathi, one of Nirmala Teacher’s signature Desi choreographies.
