Exhibition: Reflective Memoirs
The exhibition showcases the evocative paintings and paper works of Gurgaon-based artist Sangeeta Singh, offering a glimpse into her abstract expressionist and surrealist world. Drawing from her personal life and travel experiences, the exhibition features the compelling theme of Tea Side Stories, inspired by Singh’s visit to Turkey in 2016. The double-layered Turkish teapots, central to her work, are transformed into metaphors for human connection, memory, and shared moments. Singh's textured use of paint and paper, combined with her rich color palette, creates layered narratives that invite viewers to explore deep emotional resonance. "Reflective Memoirs" takes visitors on a journey through the artist’s reflections on life, travel, and the simple, yet profound act of sharing tea, making it an inspiring and thought-provoking exhibition.
Sangeeta Singh has been awarded Senior and Junior Fellowship from Ministry of Culture, Government of India in 2017 and 2007 respectively and by Kala Drishti in 2016. In 2022 she was awarded ‘Kala Gaurav Samman’ from Government of Haryana and Municipal Corporation of Gurugram and in 2023 - Raja Ravi Varma Chitrakaar Award from Megh Mandal Sansthan and Lalit Kala Akademi.
With thirteen solo shows and over seventy group participations to her credit, the artist has exhibited widely at national and international level.
Keen to share her knowledge and skills with others she also teaches art to young learners and aspiring artists. The artist lives and works in Gurgaon.
