Music: From Kashmir to Chennai: An Acoustic Homage to Folk Music & Film Scores

Sajid received formal training in music at KM Music Conservatory in Chennai and True School of Music in Mumbai. An independent singer and songwriter from Delhi, Sajid is a verified artist on Spotify. His debut song ‘Deep Jale’ gained recognition with nationwide airplay on 93.5 FM radio across India from 2022 to 2023. He has experience in Filmmaking, in which he has a master’s degree and directed the music video for his song ‘Deep Jale’ and a documentary on Delhi’s jazz scene. He is deeply passionate about storytelling through music and presents songs with deep narratives, such as poetry by Habba Khatun or Amir Khusro, acoustical-ly. The proposed event will feature renditions of folk song melodies, Rabindra Sangeet, and Sufi verses from across India, including Kashmir, Punjab, and Bengal. The event also pays homage to A.R. Rahman by acoustically reimagining some of his original compositions.
