"Parampara - The Lineage" celebrates Guru-Shishya Parampara under the aegis of Kalakar Arts UK, featuring performances by Dr. Priya Bhagwat and Anuja Pradhan, both disciples of Smt. Chandra Chakraborty. Smt. Chandra Chakraborty is the leading exponent of the Kirana Gharana, a lineage of Hindustani Classical Music. She is the Artistic Director of Kalakar UK, based in London, and performs both in the UK and India.
Dr. Priya Bhagwat is a practicing NHS Consultant in London. Anuja Pradhan is a software engineer and works in London. Both Anuja and Priya perform regularly at the Guru-Poornima and Saraswati Pooja celebrations every year. They have also performed in the musicals “Begum Akhtar” and “Saraswati” held at the Bhavan, London.
The program begins with a piece of Khayal music, followed by a Thumri exploring different moods of a "nayika," a young lady in love. They conclude with a Bhajan, a devotional song.
They will be accompanied by Aniruddha Mukherjee on Tabla and Rishikesh Kardile on the harmonium.
