Manmohan Dogra is a young, Delhi-based Tabla artist with over 20 years of experience in Indian classical music. A disciple of musicologist Pt. Vijay Shankar Mishra, Manmohan has specialized in the Banaras Baaj style of the Banaras Gharana while also learning other gharanas like Delhi and Ajrada, etc. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Percussion Music from the University of Delhi and a master’s in music business from Edinburgh Napier University, UK.
In 2024, he has performed as a solo artist at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival, receiving critical acclaim. Additionally, Manmohan has collaborated with prominent personalities in Indian classical music, enhancing his versatility and artistry. His accolades include the 'Tabla Shree' Award (twice) and the 'Tabla Shiromani’ Award.
Manmohan will present a traditional tabla solo in Taal Teentaal, accompanied by David Beards on sitar, creating a unique blend of Indian classical music that resonates with audiences worldwide.
David Beards, an Edinburgh-based sitar player, accompanies Manmohan. With a background in Western classical and rock music, David began his journey into Indian classical music in 2005 under Vijay Kangutkar. His expertise in Indian rhythms led him to master the sitar and tabla. David has performed at various international music festivals, including Guru Poornima in India and the US. Together, Manmohan and David create a unique fusion of Indian classical music with Western influences, captivating audiences worldwide.
