Former Director, The Nehru Centre, Ambassador Sangeeta Bahadur, is the author of the popular Kaal Tetralogy. Her latest book Devadasi, a historical fantasy in which India of the 6th Century BCE has been reimagined, has just been published by Parchment Publications. She will be in conversation with Dr Seema Anand, the renowned London-based narrative practitioner, author and social media influencer, and Shubhi Arya, owner and chief editor of Parchment Publications.
The discussions shall revolve around the subject of women's empowerment as seen through the lens of the Devadasi system in Ancient India. The objective is to correct the British-propagated, highly prejudiced and completely twisted view that the Devadasi tradition was an immoral one, used to exploit helpless women.
