Sea Thy Melody is a unique work based on the Indian poet and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. With Sea Thy Melody, Somdatta has selected an array of Tagore songs that express his perfect balance between Melody and lyrics.
There has not been a single emotion that has been left out in the songs written by him namely Joy, Sorrow, and Love, Separation, Patriotism or Simple tranquillity. Tagore’s work is also an amalgamation of Western Music, Indian classical music, International and Folk traditions.
Somdatta takes us through this emotive journey of Rabindranath Tagore’s music arranged by Prattyush Banerjee and Anil Veeraraj.
Somdatta has performed in the US, Berlin, Budapest and London to spread the work of Rabindranath Tagore to newer audiences. Her recent performance called “Sangam -A Confluence” (A musical blend of three traditions of Tagore, Gospel and Sufi Poetry) was very well received at the Taplin Auditorium in Princeton on March 3rd, 2019.
Sea Thy Melody defines her first work on Rabindranath Tagore which transgressed boundaries through collaborations with artists of various other genres namely jazz and other World Music Artists.
Somdatta has performed with World Renowned Jazz and Blues Pianist ‘Eli Yamin’ and recently with Grammy Nominated flutist ‘Ron Korb’ and it gives her fulfilment to spread the wide expanse of Tagore’s work to newer worlds.
